Colon

Character created by: Colin Hadley

Name: Colon Me'han

Format: Sprite

Apparent chronological age: 15

Gender: Male

Relatives: Colon has a brother two years younger than him named Seaver. His father, Ryn, still lives, but his mother, Kate, was killed by the virus infecting his system.

Physical appearance: Colon stands tall at 5' 7" and is of a slender build. He is as sleek and graceful as a cat, which helps him move silently through the shadows. His eyes are the bright green shade of a cat's, while his hair is a darker green with lighter bits. He has glow-in-the-dark hair, like Mouse! His hair also goes from long, to semi-short, and then to shoulder length as The Comic progresses. His skin is a light brown color.

Origins/Background: His family is that of the noble house Me'han. When he was around thirteen, the Melissa Virus invaded. It was sent through a portal that could be traced back to the Guardian Academy in the Super Computer. It was a class 6 command and conquer virus, quite akin to Megabyte. The portal it came through was somehow expanded by the electrical field surrounding the system and in result, dozens of people were drawn in through the portal and were scattered about the Super Computer. The portal finally exploded, killing at least a hundred people and wounding countless more. Colon's mother was one of the people killed. The virus was quick to infect much of the citizens. All seemed nearly lost when the military base was attacked and infected.

Small sections of the system's army still lived, though. Each uninfected sector had a division. Colon and a squad of other military cadets, being trained in the art of warfare, was assigned to the Sector 4 under the command of one Draconas Fax. The squad he was in luckily contained his friends Ram Kil'le, the young hacker genius, Winz and Zip Sa'rul, trained in the art of stealth, and Apple Wu'fou, class 1 novice ( the highest) in the area of battle tactics. Cat, the fifth and youngest member of their group, would have been with Colon as one learning to become one of the Warrior class.

All of the above characters are from the noble families of Datastream, minus Fax whose father was a commoner. The noble families are large, containing many children, aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, etc. Even though two characters might have the same family names, they might only be distantly related. Datastream follows a system of upper class/middle class/common class, each divided by a section. The ground level of each sector is for the commoners, while the highest is for the nobles. It's a really bad system, and the commoners get kicked around a lot, but the co-creator of Datastream (Cat) and I hope to find some way to make some characters change that eventually. The nobles have family names that are separated by an apostrophe, while the middle-class have long names and the commoners have last names that don't get longer than four letters.

When it became apparent that an outside source would be needed to help battle the virus, Colon was sent with two other men to go find the only three Datastream Warriors to have left the system. These Warriors were Mouse, a man that went by the name of Jide Tiger, of the Li'kof family, and another woman called Robyn Wu'fou.

After reaching the Super Computer, the three split up. Colon was assigned to find Mouse. After a bit of inquiries, he was able to find out that Mouse was a resident of Mainframe. He was able to threat-err, 'convince' a higher-up cadet to make him a portal going there.

Once in Mainframe he followed what he'd been taught - act first, ask later. Dot, Bob and crew, of course, were notified immediately when the PO sensed the appearance of a portal, and Bob was surprised when he saw it came from the Super Computer. Matrix, AndrAIa went to investigate while Dot and Mouse stayed at the PO in case something happened. Cat, Drive, and Enzo were ordered to stay in the Read-only room. Cat knew that she recognized the signal somehow, and told the others to stay while she went and tried to find him. She ended up being the one to discover him.

Colon didn't know who she was at the time, and attacked her hoping to gain information. She was caught unaware, but was able to counter him. Cat ended up winning. Both sprites were shocked when they discovered who they were. Colon was brought to the PO, everything was explained, and Cat got in a lot of trouble for running off.

Colon was distraught and frustrated when he discovered that Mouse refused to go back with him, and he was pretty much trapped out of Datastream at that point. Both the other sprites had managed to locate their assigned Warrior and were working on a way to re-enter the system. Colon received instructions to try to convince Mouse while the others and a squadron from the system worked on breaking down all of the firewalls. If he was not able to get Mouse, then when the walls were broken he and Cat were supposed to return. Colon worked for Old Man Pearson in return for a place to stay, and was forced to attend school. The firewalls around Datastream were completely taken down at about the same time Drive decided that she needed to go find her family and become a Guardian Cadet once more. The three said their good-byes, and Drive went in search of her family while Colon and Cat returned to their home system.

When?: After season 4

Personality: Colon is always calm and cool, which balances out Cat's volatile nature. He was trained to be a ranking officer, but knows that he most always follow his superiors. He knows that in Mainframe he is only a child, while in Datastream he would be in the army already, so he has no trouble accepting the orders given to him by Bob and Dot. He finds himself lucky that he ever gets to do something at all. Colon feels comfortable in a following position, for it was what he was trained to do. His cool attitude and trained abilities have earned him the respect of those around him. He is incredibly intelligent, and not the least bit manipulative. He also knows when to shut up and listen.

Skills: Colon was trained with a longsword, and also in a few forms of martial arts. He can use a gun, but he can also use a staff. He is also good at climbing and mapping. He has learned how to sleep with his eyes open. Apart from this, he has excellent penmanship, is a strong bass in advanced chorus, and can do hard math problems in his head.

Weaknesses/Bad Habits: Colon's a bit of a show-off, and his cool and collected manner can sometimes be interpreted as aloofness. He has a tendency to underestimate people he perceives as weaker than himself, and his hatred for Guardians colors his opinion of their format.

Likes: Colon enjoys showing off his skills and being around Datastream Warriors. He comes to like living in Mainframe with Cat and his new friends. Datastream, being in the main computer in some bigshot company, has no games. He finds the risk and challenge of them thrilling. Datastream also doesn't have games or zipboards or even energy shakes, so he comes to like the system even more because it has these.

Dislikes: He can't stand those weaker than himself. He also hates Guardians with a passion. The only two of them Colon likes is Drive and Bob. He gets rather ... touchy, so to speak, if anyone insults his system. He also doesn't like junk food - "It's bad for the processor!" The person he hates most in all of the net is the Melissa Virus. Colon hates her with a cold passion, and his cool is broken every time her name is mentioned.

Cast relationships

  • Bob: Although at first Colon doesn't trust Bob, he comes to learn that the Guardian's heart is true. He finds him to be brave and strong, and worthy of being respected as a warrior. He goes to Bob for guidance sometimes, finding him somewhat of an idol.

  • Dot: Colon takes an immediate liking to Dot. She reminds him of his Aunt Menylie, who is his favorite distant relative. This liking turns to adoration as he realizes her competence as Command.Com. He's quick to her side when she needs help. Don't get me wrong, though - he's not in love. He has a thing for Cat.

  • Phong:

  • Enzo: Colon thinks Enzo is a pathetic little loser at first, and can't stand the kid. Once Enzo starts to mature, however, he finds the boy to be a solid and loyal companion, and fun to hang out with.

  • Frisket: Once Enzo joins Colon's group, Frisket hangs out with them as well. He protects them when they are in danger.

  • Matrix: Colon feels that Matrix is not a good warrior. He was raised with the idea that fighting with anger is stupid, wastes energy, and clogs the fighter's head. Of course, Matrix is just about always angry, so Colon is polite to him but does not go out of his way to speak with him.

  • AndrAIa: Drooool. AndrAIa's HOT. That's Colon's opinion on her. She also seems to be a pretty decent warrior, so he respects her for that.

  • Mouse: Colon treats Mouse with the respect he is demanded to give to any Datastream Warrior. He feels betrayed, though, because she will not help her system. Colon tries to stay out of her way.

  • Ray: Err - whatever happened to Ray? Oh well. If Colon ever meets him, he will feel that he likes him. He likes Ray's cool attitude and stylish glasses. Ray also teaches him how to surf.

Fics featuring this character: He's not in any fics, but he is featured in The Comic at Datastream (https://www.angelfire.com/ct/CatnMouse). Well... He will be once the three of us find a scanner.
